2.Microscopic Mechanism of Graphene/Carbon Nanotube Modified High-strength Concrete & Long-term Durability Prediction for Super High-rise Buildings

Click:

“ Experimental data on mechanical strength, impermeability and frost resistance of concrete mixed with graphene and carbon nanotubes are summarized with domestic super high-rise pilot projects recorded. The core commercialization bottleneck is the agglomeration of carbon nanotubes and high raw material cost. This article discusses low-cost modification technologies and composite doping systems to satisfy the long service life design of super high-rises, and matches high-durability concrete product ”

1. Current research achievements
Carbon nanomaterials represented by graphene and carbon nanotubes have excellent mechanical properties and microscopic filling effects, which can effectively optimize the internal pore structure of concrete and improve the macroscopic mechanical strength and durability of building materials. At present, a large number of indoor experimental studies and domestic super high-rise pilot applications have verified that an appropriate amount of carbon nanomaterial doping can significantly improve the compressive strength, tensile strength, impermeability and freeze-thaw resistance of concrete. In the pilot construction of domestic super high-rise buildings, modified high-strength concrete has shown excellent structural stability, effectively reducing structural deformation and surface cracking problems caused by long-term load and environmental erosion, and has initially verified its engineering application value.

2. Existing technical bottlenecks
Despite outstanding performance advantages, the large-scale commercial application of carbon nanomaterial modified concrete still faces two core bottlenecks. First, carbon nanotubes and graphene are prone to agglomeration in the concrete mixing process, resulting in uneven microscopic distribution, which reduces the modification effect and causes local performance differences of concrete. Second, the high cost of carbon nanomaterial raw materials and complex dispersion treatment process lead to a significant increase in concrete comprehensive cost, which cannot be popularized in ordinary building projects. In addition, the long-term performance attenuation law of modified concrete under extreme high temperature and high salt erosion environment lacks systematic test data support.

3. Medium & long-term technical trend
The future technical research direction will focus on low-cost surface modification and composite doping technology of carbon nanomaterials. By developing efficient dispersion agents and ultrasonic synchronous mixing technology, the agglomeration problem of carbon materials is fundamentally solved. The multi-component composite doping system of graphene, carbon nanotubes and traditional mineral admixtures is optimized to reduce the dosage of high-cost carbon nanomaterials and balance performance and cost. At the same time, combined with the 100-year service life design standard of modern super high-rise buildings, the long-term durability attenuation model of modified concrete is established to realize accurate performance prediction and structural safety evaluation.

4. Overseas market value
This high-durability modified concrete has extremely high market adaptability in overseas extreme construction environments. It can effectively resist high-temperature aging in Middle East desert construction areas and chloride ion erosion in coastal high-salinity areas, solve the problems of short service life and frequent maintenance of super high-rise buildings and large public buildings in extreme environments. Relying on technical advantages, targeted high-durability concrete material solutions can be formed for overseas high-end building projects, helping domestic new building materials expand the overseas high-value engineering market.

Conclusion

Carbon nanomaterial modification significantly improves the microscopic structure and long-term durability of high-strength concrete, making it highly suitable for super high-rise and extreme-environment buildings. Breaking dispersion and cost bottlenecks through composite doping will accelerate the industrialization of functional durable concrete, providing advanced material solutions for global high-end building long-term safety operation.
