1. Current engineering application
Steel slag and fly ash are typical industrial solid wastes generated by steel smelting and thermal power generation industries, with huge annual output and low resource utilization rate. The composite admixture formed by scientific proportioning of steel slag and fly ash can partially replace cement in concrete production, which not only realizes the resource utilization of industrial solid waste and reduces environmental pollution, but also significantly reduces the raw material cost of commercial concrete. At present, this composite green concrete has been widely used in hydraulic engineering, industrial factory floors, highway road bases and other large-volume concrete projects at home and abroad, with stable engineering performance and prominent cost advantages.
2. Core technical difficulties
The main technical difficulty restricting the large-scale application of steel slag-fly ash composite concrete is the poor soundness of steel slag. Steel slag contains unstable mineral components, which are prone to volume expansion reaction in the concrete hydration hardening process. When the mixing proportion exceeds the safe threshold, it will cause internal expansion stress of concrete, leading to structural cracking, surface peeling and other quality problems, seriously affecting the structural safety and durability of the project. In addition, the activity difference of different sources of steel slag and fly ash is large, resulting in unstable performance of composite concrete, which is difficult to form unified popularization standards.
3. International standard comparison
There are obvious differences in the technical standards of industrial solid waste composite concrete between China and foreign countries. European and American markets have stricter requirements on the soundness and stability of solid waste admixtures, while Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern markets pay more attention to economic cost and basic engineering performance. Aiming at the massive solid waste resources generated by thermal power and steel industries in the Middle East, targeted localized resource utilization schemes are formulated. According to the local solid waste component characteristics and engineering standard requirements, the optimal compound ratio is adjusted to realize efficient and safe resource utilization of local industrial solid waste.
4. Actual cost optimization
By formulating standardized production specifications for steel slag-fly ash composite admixtures, the accurate batching and stable performance of composite concrete are realized. The large-scale application of industrial solid waste replaces high-cost cement raw materials, greatly reduces the raw material procurement cost of commercial ready-mix concrete, and creates huge economic benefits for concrete production enterprises. At the same time, it reduces the environmental treatment cost of industrial solid waste, realizes the dual optimization of economic benefits and environmental benefits, and provides a replicable low-cost and green production scheme for global concrete engineering.
Conclusion
Reasonable compounding of steel slag and fly ash can effectively realize industrial solid waste resource utilization and reduce concrete engineering costs. Optimizing soundness control and formulating localized formulas for international standards can eliminate structural stability risks. This composite green concrete provides a low-cost, environmentally friendly and replicable solution for large-volume concrete projects and global solid waste recycling.
