1. Current laboratory research achievements
Carbon mineralization sequestration concrete is a new zero-carbon building material that uses the hydration products of concrete to react with carbon dioxide to realize mineralization and carbon fixation. At present, domestic and foreign laboratory research has fully verified the carbon sequestration mechanism and performance advantages of this material. By introducing CO₂ gas into the concrete curing stage, the calcium hydroxide in concrete undergoes mineralization reaction to generate stable calcium carbonate crystals, which can not only permanently seal carbon dioxide, but also fill the internal pores of concrete and improve structural density and strength. A large number of laboratory test data have confirmed the carbon sequestration efficiency, strength growth law and structural stability of carbon mineralization concrete under different curing conditions.
2. Barriers for industrial transformation
Although the laboratory research is mature, the industrial transformation and large-scale engineering application of carbon mineralization concrete still face huge barriers. The traditional carbon sequestration process requires professional closed sealed curing equipment and a constant-pressure carbonation environment, with high equipment investment and operation cost, which is difficult to popularize in ordinary on-site pouring projects. The on-site construction environment is open and cannot form a stable carbonation reaction condition, resulting in uncontrollable on-site carbon sequestration effect and inconsistent product quality. These problems make it difficult for laboratory mature technologies to be quickly converted into large-scale engineering products.
3. Medium-long term commercial roadmap
In view of the industrialization bottlenecks, the medium and long-term commercial development roadmap focuses on material modification and production mode innovation. Develop normal-pressure natural mineralization modified functional materials to realize efficient carbon sequestration of concrete under open atmospheric environment, get rid of the dependence on closed high-pressure equipment. Promote the factory centralized carbon sequestration production mode, concentrate the carbon mineralization curing process in precast component factories, realize standardized, batch and controllable carbon fixation production of precast concrete components, and greatly improve industrial production efficiency.
4. Commercial economic value
Carbon mineralization sequestration concrete has dual economic and environmental values. On the one hand, the carbon sequestration capacity of products can be converted into carbon credits, bringing additional carbon income for enterprises. On the other hand, zero-carbon concrete products can effectively avoid the carbon tariff barriers in European and American markets, improve the international competitiveness of building material products. With the continuous tightening of global building carbon emission policies, zero-carbon mineralized concrete will become a core competitive product in the international green building material market, bringing long-term stable economic benefits for enterprises' overseas layout.
Conclusion
Carbon mineralization concrete achieves dual promotion of carbon sequestration and structural performance, representing the future zero-carbon development direction of concrete materials. Breaking equipment and environmental limitations through atmospheric mineralization modification and factory centralized production can effectively realize large-scale industrial promotion, helping construction enterprises cope with global carbon trade barriers and gain green market
